product description

Used in conjunction with the MM340 Standard Mount, the MM540 Enhanced Mount and the RB100 Recess Box, the SSB40 serves as a direct replacement for their included wall plate when it can't reach your existing stud placement. Customers with a single stud centered in the intended mounting area can attach the SSB40 to your MantelMounts lifting arm the same as the wall plate, but the adapter has mounting hole configurations specifically for these single stud installations, as well as installations to large posts or beams (common with outdoor patio installations). Please view the Video Tab to see this accessory in action.

NOTE: The SSB40 must be paired with an AB40 Horizontal Adapter Bracket if mounting an MM340 Standard Mount or an MM540 Enhanced Mount to a horizontal surface such a a cubby hole or recessed alcove, or if serving as pass through support for thin brick facades or simulated foam "stone" panels that can't support the weight of a MantelMount independently.

NOTE 2: The SSB40 is also needed as a bolt pattern adapter if recessing the MM340 or MM540 mounts with the RB100 Recess Box.

Reviews

Very strong, works for center stud above fire

"Three months and no issues. Holds a 65" TV on a single center stud above a gas fireplace. Fireplace has yet to get too hot for the TV as well. We leave the TV in the down position 90% of the time. Only suggestion is to provide a nice template with the single stud adapter like the one that comes with the original mounting bracket. Luckily my measurements were on point, but you could ruin your shot at installing this on a single stud without perfectly drilled holes."

Necessary for the mount I

"Necessary for the mount I ordered. Would be easier if it was just included. Simple installation."

Good decision

"I'm really happy with my decision to purchase this product. The single stud bracket was a better solution to my install of this mount. I think it gives you a cleaner look in the end as well. I've had the mount up for about a month now and everything seems to be working perfectly. I think it would be nicer to have the option of this or the full mounting bracket so that you don't have to spend the extra money. Overall I'm happy with it."

Worked Great

"The single stud adapter work great. Fortunately I had a stud in the center of the wall I was going to hang the MantleMount. This provided a very clean installation. I reccomend having 2 people to install the MantleMount."

Q&A

Hello, can i use this with MM815 and a ressed box
Hello, The SSB40 is not compatible with the MM815. However, you can use the MM815 with the recess box as the MM815 and RB100 are compatible. -MantelMount Team-
There are 3 studs above the mantle (each 16 inches apart) and I wish to install directly over the middle stud. Do I need the ssb40 or can I install the mm540 to the left and center studs, and then hang the TV directly over the center stud?
Hello, You can install the MM540 off center to catch two studs and then off set the lifting arm so that it is centered over the mantel. However, for a much cleaner look I would recommend purchasing the SSB40 and installing it directly to your centered stud. -MantelMount Team-
Why this adapter work with the MM700 Premier Pull Down TV Mount?
Hello, The SSB40 adapter will not work with the MM700. -MantelMount Team-
Does the SSB40 work with the MM815 motorized mount?
Hello, The SSB40 will not work with the MM815. However, if you choose not use the wall plates, the MM815 lifting arm can be mounted directly to a structural surface.
Do I need anything else to attach the MM340 or do I only need the SSB40? Do you have a video of how to install the MM340 to the SSB40?
The MM340 comes with everything needed for a basic installation. If you plan on using the SSB40 for installation, then the MM340 paired with the SSB40 is all that you need. Currently we do not have a video in regards to SSB40 installation. -MantelMount Team-
Studs are probably about 16” apart, so wouldn’t be able to get standard bracket centered. Would the plastic bracket cover hide the whole bracket if the lift arm isn’t centered on the bracket? Just looking for a cleaner look…
Hello, While you wouldn't be able to center the standard bracket, you would be able to offset the bracket and then center the arm. The wall plate covers give about a 4" variance. While the entire mount is never covered by the wall plate covers even in the standard configuration, it would still have a clean look. -MantelMount Team-
I would like to install an MM540 mount using the SSB40, however, the center stud is not quite at center. Could I use the left two holes on the SSB40 to screw into the stud and then use the center and right holes to screw into a shiplap wall (not sure of the exact shiplap thickness)? Will this support a 54 lb tv okay?
Hello, The SSB40 needs to be centered on the stud so using the SSB40 off center and then using the other holes to attach to the shiplap will not be structural enough. How far apart are your studs? -MantelMount Team-
I am looking to purchase your MM540 mount to be used on uneven stone over an indoor fireplace. The builder nailed in a 2 x 10 between the studs at the center of the wall over the fireplace for the sole purpose of assisting with a future mount. Studs are 16 inches on center. Do I need the SSB40 or will the MM540 work just fine with the bracing and studs? I'm concerned that with the uneven stone it will probably be necessary to find different spots to drill into the mortar between the stone. Using the SSB40 - means - I don't have much choice where I can drill.
Hello, The MM540 can be attached to uneven stone with the use of hanger bolts. Hanger bolts can be purchase from any local hardware store. That said, I think for ease of installation and aesthetics, the SSB40 may be the best option for your application. -MantelMount Team-
In your option would it be better to offset the original brackets or use the SSB40 adapter? I have a 70 inch Sony 7000 TV The mantel is approximately 73 1/2 inches wide. There is a stud at 18 inches 38 inches and 57 1/2. The offset would be around 10 to 11 inches. Thanks for any help /Users/donfoshee/Desktop/IMG_3238.HEIC /Users/do
Hello, Visually, I believe the SSB40 would give you the cleaner look, but it may not be as centered as offsetting the standard wall plates. -MantelMount Team-
can the lifting arm still be off center with this adaptor? My center stud is a few inches off from the center of the mantel.
Hello, The lifting arm cannot be moved off center with the SSB40. -MantelMount Team-
